When I decided to open up a coffee shop in the city, I had a limited budget. I knew I wanted to be somewhere that got a lot of traffic. I wanted to attract college students and people commuting to work. I needed a good location and lots of room to park. The building I found worked perfectly and was a steal because it had been left vacant for several years. It also didn’t come with a great HVAC situation. The HVAC unit was large, old and ugly. It also sat in the back of the building and took up space I wanted for a parking lot. The first thing I did was call a local HVAC company to see if they had any ideas on how to free up space.

The HVAC contractor heavily recommended a rooftop unit. Like the name implies it is out of the way and on my roof. The heating and cooling works totally perfectly. The advantage to having it on the roof is that there is no threat of vandalism, it frees up space and when I need to have repairs done, the HVAC contractor can easily access it. There is also the bonus that for yearly HVAC service, the contractor won’t be in the way of my customers. He will be up on the roof taking care of everything. As far as how the machine heats and cools, it does a really great job. I have no complaints. I think I made a really great choice with my business. I make sure to get a tune up at least once a year because I want my system to keep on working.
