Living in the north, I am used to warm, humid summers and long, brutal winters. The winter season lasts for more than half the year though. The cold can start as early as September and not let up until the end of May. It is not uncommon for the temperatures to drop twenty below freezing. The wind chill and ice also add a scary bonus to the weather as well. With the cold comes the dry air quality. Additionally, running a furnace non stop takes even more moisture from the air. During the winter my family complains about fuzzy hair, bloody noses, chapped lips and dry skin. Dry indoor air conditioners can also ruin electronics because of all the static and even cause wood furniture to crack and split. Amazing isn’t it? With the air being so dry, it naturally feels colder too. I run my furnace at a way higher setting than most heating systems and I don’t feel warm enough. I recently did some research online and found that a lot of people depend on a humidifier. The portable humidifiers are big, ugly and don’t really do the job. People recommended getting the humidifier installed in the return duct so it can moisturize air passing through. It is said to fix all of my problems and make the house feel warmer. It stops people from getting sick and is excellent for those with asthma or allergies. I will just need to contact my HVAC company and have them send me a HVAC technician to do the job.
